VAT, Pricing and EU OSS
All prices in our store already include Polish VAT. Our warehouse is located in Gliwice, Poland — an EU member state — so there are no customs duties, no import taxes and no border formalities when shipping to any other EU country. Prices of products imported from outside the EU (such as COOC-certified Californian olive oils, Nemechek Protocol products, fish oils) already include all applicable import duties and EU taxes.
The EU One Stop Shop (OSS) — How It Affects Our Prices
Since 1 July 2021, EU sellers shipping cross-border to private consumers above a threshold of €10,000/year must apply the VAT rate of the buyer's country and remit it to that country's tax administration via the One Stop Shop (OSS). We are registered in OSS and we comply with this rule.
In practice, this means that when we ship an order to Germany, France, Spain or any other EU country, we collect the destination-country VAT and pay it directly to the respective tax office — even though our prices on the website are set with Polish VAT included. For categories where the destination-country rate is higher than the Polish rate, the difference is absorbed from our margin.
In Poland, extra virgin olive oil is taxed at a 5% VAT rate (a super-reduced rate reserved for essential foodstuffs). In several other EU countries the rate on olive oil is significantly higher — see the table below.
Why We Cannot Apply Additional Discount Codes
Because part of every cross-border order is forwarded directly to a foreign tax authority via OSS, our pricing leaves us with no further room for promotional discount codes beyond those already shown on the product page. The price you see is the net price for the product plus the destination-country VAT that we are legally required to pay. We thank you for understanding — this is also why our regular prices are already calibrated to be highly competitive across the EU.
