Description

Mitira organic extra virgin oil gold-colored, smooth-tasting, aromatic, comprised of a mix between the Kolovi and Adramitiani variety, both unique to the island of Lesvos. We harvest our trees with the same amount of love and respect for our land, which reciprocates by offering us it’s best fruit.

The Karali family olive grove dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. Our estate is located on a small hill overlooking the Mytilene port. Taking advantage of the soil’s rich limestone substrate, our olive trees grow amphitheatrically on man-made stone terraces, forming a magnificent sight.

Employing the method of cold-extraction allows for the production of a supreme olive oil, as its composition is free from exposure to high temperatures and additive substances, thus preserving the beneficial antioxidants and nutritional elements of the olive oil.

Mitira menas "Mother" in the local Lesbian dialect

Lesvos’ ancient history can be traced back as far as 4,000 B.C. Home to some of Greece’s most famous intellectuals, the island’s contribution to the arts is remarkable. Notable artists from Lesvos include ancient poet Sappho, noble prize winner Elytis, prose writers Marivilis and Venezis as well as talented painters such as Theophilos and Iakovidis. Lesvos is equally gifted in natural beauty, with a prodigious amount of olive trees and pine trees contributing to its majestic scenery. Moreover, due to its fertile land surrounded by sea, Lesvos is also distinct for its culinary tradition as wellas for its food products such as Ladotyri, Feta, salted seafood, etc.
