Protection against oxidation

The multi-layer material protects the oil from light and oxygen – the two main factors that degrade phenolic compounds. This allows the oil to retain its full aroma and health properties for longer. When pouring, the air that causes oxidation does not get inside.

Compared to glass, AstraPouch® packaging is up to 85% lighter, which significantly reduces shipping costs, especially for air freight to countries outside the EU (dedicated to our customers in the USA, Australia, the Philippines and Canada). It also reduces the risk of damage during transport.

Combination of technologies

The project was developed at the Astrikas Estate mill, where a modern production line operates alongside traditional stone presses. The collaboration between Chloe Dimitriadis (Biolea) and Eftychis Androulakis (Pamako) has made it possible to create an innovative olive oil that is deeply rooted in Cretan tradition.
