Description
Rosemary is an aromatic spice originating from the Mediterranean region, commonly used in Mediterranean cuisine. Rosemary is used to make infusions. As a spice, it is used in meat dishes, especially game, and sauces. It adorns Mediterranean gardens with its small blue flowers, while its intense aroma gives off a fresh scent.
The name rosemary comes from the Latin words 'ros' - freshness and 'marinus' - fresh sea breeze. Rosemary can grow in natural conditions without watering, drawing moisture from the sea.
Application:
- It has analgesic and stimulating properties.
- It is used to treat depression and nervousness, even though it increases blood pressure
- When used externally, it has circulation-stimulating and warming properties
- It relieves stomach cramps, has a cholagogue effect and improves digestion
- Inhalations help combat colds and sinus infections
Avoid consumption by pregnant women or people with high blood pressure.
Preparation: Pour boiling water over a teaspoon of rosemary. Steep covered for about 10 minutes.
