International shipping

International shipping

Greek olive oil and delicacies shipped from Poland (EU) to the European Union, the USA and almost any other country.

At a glance

  • We ship worldwide, except Russia and Belarus – see the map of countries we have already shipped to.
  • Carriers: DHL for EU countries, FedEx for the rest of the world (with full customs documentation), Nova Post for Ukraine.
  • All orders are dispatched no later than the 3rd business day after ordering (Saturdays and Sundays are not business days), from our warehouse in Gliwice, Poland.
  • EU customers: no customs, no import taxes — prices include VAT (we are registered in EU OSS).
  • Outside the EU: customs duties and import taxes are not included and are paid by the recipient.
  • USA: an FDA-registered product and an FDA Prior Notice are required for every order — you can file the Prior Notice yourself to speed things up.
  • Shipping cost is calculated by weight and shown at checkout before payment.

Not sure whether we deliver to your country? Our Where We Ship page shows a map of destinations our parcels have reached so far. If your country is not on it yet, write to us before ordering – in most cases we can still arrange delivery.

1. Customers in the European Union

Delivery within the EU

Orders to EU countries are delivered by DHL. Every order leaves our warehouse no later than the 3rd business day after it is placed (Monday to Friday; Saturdays and Sundays are not business days) and you receive a DHL tracking number by email at dispatch. Typical delivery time is 2–5 business days depending on the country. There are no customs duties, import taxes or border formalities within the EU.

VAT and pricing

All prices in our store include VAT. Products we import from outside the EU (COOC-certified Californian olive oils, Nemechek Protocol products, fish oils) are priced with all import duties and EU taxes already paid.

EU One Stop Shop (OSS)

Since 1 July 2021, EU sellers shipping to private consumers in other member states must charge the VAT rate of the buyer’s country and remit it to that country’s tax office through the One Stop Shop. We are registered in OSS and comply with this rule: when we ship to Germany, France, Spain or any other EU country, the destination-country VAT is paid directly to that tax authority.

Our website prices are set with Polish VAT included — in Poland extra virgin olive oil is taxed at a reduced 5% rate. Where the destination country applies a higher rate, we absorb the difference from our margin.

Why we cannot apply extra discount codes to cross-border orders

Part of every EU cross-border order is forwarded straight to a foreign tax authority via OSS, so our pricing leaves no room for promotional codes beyond the discounts already shown on the product page. The price you see is the product price plus the VAT we are legally required to pay in your country — and our regular prices are already set to be competitive across the EU.

2. Customers outside the EU

Customs duties and import taxes

Orders outside the EU are shipped by FedEx with full customs documentation. Our prices do not include customs duties or import taxes. These charges are set and collected by the customs authorities of the destination country and by the courier. We have no control over them and cannot predict the amount — they are always the responsibility of the recipient.

Duties are usually calculated on the total value of the order, including shipping. Our customs paperwork lists every item with its commodity code (CN/HS), the order value, the shipping cost and the payment confirmation. Customs offices routinely check that the declared value matches the actual payment.

We never declare shipments as “gifts” or “samples” — this would be a customs violation.

United Kingdom

Since Brexit, goods shipped from Poland to the UK are imports. We do not collect UK VAT at checkout — UK Import VAT, any customs duty and the courier handling fee are charged on delivery by HMRC and FedEx. Official guidance: GOV.UK — Tax and customs for goods sent from abroad.

  • Customs duty: 0% on EU-origin goods under the UK–EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement, including Greek, Italian and Spanish extra virgin olive oil (CN 1509 20 00). We include the statement of origin with every shipment.
  • Import VAT: 20% on most goods (olive oil, supplements and nearly everything else in our range), calculated on goods + shipping + duty.
  • Orders up to £135: no duty; VAT would normally be collected by the seller, but as we are not registered for UK VAT, FedEx collects it with a clearance fee on arrival.
  • Orders above £135: you are the importer of record; FedEx invoices 20% VAT, duty (0% for EU-origin olive oil) and a clearance fee (typically £15–£25 + VAT).

Example 1: goods £100 + shipping £15 = £115 → no duty; VAT ≈ £23 + clearance ≈ £12 → about £150 delivered.

Example 2: goods £200 + shipping £20 = £220 → no duty; VAT ≈ £44 + clearance ≈ £24 → about £288 delivered.

The £39 gift relief applies only to genuine private gifts between individuals, never to online purchases — we will not declare your order as a gift.

India

Customs clearance in India can delay delivery, and charges are calculated on goods plus shipping. Private importers without an IEC (Importer Exporter Code, issued by the DGFT) are usually assessed under CTH 98049000 at a combined rate of about 77% (35% + 10% + 28%).

If you have a GSTN number, add it to the order notes and choose the DHL option if it is offered at checkout.

Ukraine

We ship via Nova Post. Standard customs rules apply.

Russia and Belarus

We do not ship to Russia or Belarus.

3. Customers in the United States

Please read before ordering

Every order to the USA must contain an FDA-registered product, requires an FDA Prior Notice, and is subject to duties and clearance fees regardless of value (Executive Order of 29 August 2025). Customs clearance and the FDA filing are handled with FedEx.

1. An FDA-registered product in every order

The FDA requires the producing facility to be registered before food can enter the USA, so each shipment must contain at least one product from a brand with a valid FDA registration. Currently eligible brands in our range:

Terra Creta · Eliama · Pamako · Holiston · Meligyris · Atsas

If your order includes at least one of these, we can prepare the paperwork and ship. Not sure? Contact us before ordering.

2. FDA Prior Notice — required for every food shipment

Under 21 CFR Part 1, Subpart I, every shipment of food, supplements, herbal products or beverages must be announced to the FDA before it reaches the U.S. border. This is separate from facility registration and from a certificate of origin. The Prior Notice can be filed in two ways:

Option A — file the Prior Notice yourself (recommended, fastest)

Any customer can submit the Prior Notice directly to the FDA, free of charge, at www.access.fda.gov (create an account → “Prior Notice System Interface”). The form takes a few minutes. After placing your order, email us at info@kreta24.pl and we will send you everything the form asks for:

  • manufacturer name, address and FDA registration number for each product
  • product names, quantities, lot numbers and HS codes
  • shipper details (Kreta24, Gliwice, Poland) and the FedEx port of entry for your state

Once you receive the PN Confirmation Number, send it to us — we attach it to the shipment and dispatch within our standard term of 3 business days. This usually cuts the lead time by several days compared with option B.

Option B — we file it for you

If you prefer, we prepare and submit the Prior Notice on your behalf. Please allow extra time: for each U.S. order we have to verify the delivery address and state, identify the FedEx hub and port of entry serving that state, and complete the FDA filing with the manufacturer data — a process that can add 2–4 business days before dispatch.

In both cases we prepare the remaining export documents: an itemised commercial invoice with HS codes and country of origin, the FDA registration numbers of the producing facilities, and a certificate of origin for U.S. Customs (CBP).

References: FDA — Filing Prior Notice of Imported Foods · 21 CFR Part 1, Subpart I. If FedEx or CBP asks for extra information after dispatch (occasionally for cosmetics, supplements or new products), we will contact you promptly.

3. No duty-free threshold since 29 August 2025

Under the Executive Order suspending duty-free de minimis treatment, the former USD 800 threshold no longer applies. All shipments to the USA are subject to duties, taxes and clearance fees regardless of order value, calculated on goods plus shipping and collected by CBP and the courier. Kreta24 has no influence over the amount.

Shipping cost, delivery and availability

Shipping cost

International shipping is priced by the gross weight of your order. The basket recalculates the weight as you add items, and the exact shipping price is shown at checkout before payment — you can still cancel at that point.

Delivery and tracking

You receive a tracking number by email at dispatch — DHL tracking for EU orders, FedEx tracking for the rest of the world. A delivery confirmation with the consignee’s name and local delivery time is emailed within about 3 hours of delivery.

Deliveries are made on business days only. If nobody is present, the courier reattempts on the next business day; after a second unsuccessful attempt it leaves a note with the tracking number and the nearest depot, where you can arrange pickup or a new delivery date.

Product availability

All products are stocked in our warehouse in Gliwice, Poland (EU). In the rare event of a shortage or delay we will email you immediately and offer a substitution, partial dispatch or refund.
