Physis of Crete sage honey 270g
Physis of Crete sage honey is a rare honey made from the nectar of wild sage, which blooms on the dry, stony slopes of Crete. It is light amber in colour, thick and aromatic, with a distinctive, slightly herbaceous note of sage and a long, clean sweetness.
Flavour and uses
Milder in flavour than thyme honey, yet more complex than blossom honeys – herbal, with a hint of caramel and no bitterness. Excellent in tea and herbal infusions, with goat’s and sheep’s cheese, on bread with butter, and in baked goods. Sage honey crystallises very slowly and remains runny for months.
What makes this honey special
- Rare sage honey from wild Cretan sage
- Light amber colour, herbal and caramel aroma
- Crystallises very slowly – remains liquid for a long time
- For tea, cheese, bread and baked goods
Physis of Crete – natural honeys from Crete
Physis of Crete honeys are authentic products from Crete – one of the most aromatic and biologically diverse islands in Greece. They are produced using traditional beekeeping methods and drawing on local Mediterranean flora: wild thyme, sage, coniferous trees (including pine) and citrus groves (lemon, orange). The unique climate, abundant sunshine and wealth of natural nectar sources mean that Cretan honeys stand out for their intense aroma, deep flavour and natural composition. Physis of Crete is a family-run business based in Agios Nikolaos, founded in 2000, known for its award-winning olive oil and products from eastern Crete.
