Poteus Ultra Premium Extra Virgin Kalamon Olive Oil 250ml Organic (NMR: Total 1277mg/kg, D1 Index 1005mg/kg)
Description
POTEUS – an organic farm in northern Greece
POTEUS is a family-run, certified organic farm in the Serres region of Greek Macedonia, operating under a model of full production control – from its own crops, through pressing, to bottling. All products are made exclusively from raw materials sourced from the farm’s own olive groves, without the involvement of intermediaries and without the use of chemicals in the cultivation process.
Extra virgin olive oil – early harvest, cold-pressed and high in polyphenols
POTEUS olive oil is a top-tier oil, obtained directly from olives using exclusively mechanical methods. It is made from fruit harvested in the early stages of ripening (early harvest) and cold-pressed, thereby retaining very high quality, an intense sensory profile and a high content of natural bioactive compounds, including polyphenols.
The producer has its own Mori Tem-type olive mill, used exclusively for pressing its own olives. This is a key element of quality control – it allows for rapid processing of the fruit after harvest, minimises oxidation and ensures the maximum preservation of the oil’s valuable components. As a result, POTEUS oils are distinguished by their high polyphenol content and high D1 bioactive index (oleocanthal + oleacein).
Natural ecosystem and organic farming
POTEUS olive groves function as a sustainable ecosystem – herbs such as rosemary, oregano and thyme are grown amongst the trees. These improve soil quality, support biodiversity and, at the same time, provide the raw materials for the production of aromatic olive oil-based dressings. Cultivation is carried out without chemical plant protection products, using natural and mechanical methods, in accordance with the principles of certified organic farming.
POTEUS ultra-premium extra virgin Kalamon olive oil 250ml ORGANIC
A single-variety (100% monovarietal) extra virgin olive oil pressed exclusively from Kalamon olives – one of the finest Greek olive varieties, also known as Kalamata. The fruit is harvested in the early stages of ripening in October 2025, when the olives are still green and contain the highest concentration of polyphenols, and cold-pressed in the producer’s own mill.
This is an oil with an intensely fruity aroma, featuring distinct notes of freshly cut grass, green tomatoes and herbs, with a pronounced spicy sensation in the throat and a pleasant, balanced bitterness – the natural hallmark of polyphenol-rich olives. It is precisely this characteristic tang and bitterness that are evidence of the presence of oleocanthal and oleacein – compounds with documented anti-inflammatory and cardioprotective effects.
? Olympia Awards GOLD 2025-2026 – Health & Nutrition
The oil was awarded the gold medal at the Olympia Health & Nutrition Awards 2025-2026 – the highest honour in an international competition organised by the World Olive Center for Health (WOCH) in collaboration with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. WOCH is the world’s only independent non-profit organisation certifying olive oils in accordance with EU Regulation 432/2012 using the most accurate analytical method currently available – NMR spectroscopy. The gold medal is awarded exclusively to olive oils whose polyphenol content significantly exceeds the requirements of the European health claim.
Results of the NMR analysis (University of Athens, 04/11/2025)
- Total polyphenols: 1,277 mg/kg
- D1 Index (Oleocanthal + Oleacein): 1,005 mg/kg
- Oleocanthal: 801 mg/kg (global average according to UC Davis research: 135 mg/kg – almost 6 times more)
- Oleacein: 204 mg/kg (world average: 105 mg/kg – almost twice as much)
- Tyrosol and hydroxytyrosol derivatives: 166 mg/kg
Just 20 g of this olive oil a day provides 25.55 mg of hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol and their derivatives – five times above the 5 mg/20 g threshold at which EU Regulation 432/2012 permits the following health claim: “Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids against oxidative stress”.
