Sparta Medicinal "Green Label" 250 ml – 2025/2026 season
Sparta Medicinal "Green Label" is a unique Ultra High Phenolic Olive Oil – a product on the borderline between food and nutraceuticals, with a record high content of bioactive polyphenols. The latest NMR magnetic resonance studies (September 2025), conducted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in collaboration with the World Olive Centre for Health, confirm that it is the most phenol-rich olive oil in the world, especially in terms ofthe bioactiveindex D1 (the sum of oleocanthal and oleacein). It is characterised by a very intense, spicy-bitter taste and a powerful biological effect, confirmed by scientific research.
NMR testing methodology
The analysis was performed using the ¹H quantitative Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (qNMR) method, described by Karkoula, Magiatis et al., J. Agric. Food Chem., 2012. This method allows for the direct quantitative determination of key phenols: oleocanthal, oleacein, ligstroside and oleuropein aglycon, without the need for chemical extraction. The results are used to calculate the D1 Index – the sum of oleocanthal and oleacein, considered the best indicator of the anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective bioactivity of olive oil. The research was conducted by the University of Athens, Faculty of Pharmacy – the team that developed the NMR methodology used by WOCH.
How to read the NMR certificate
- Oleocanthal (2040 mg/kg) – a phenol with anti-inflammatory properties, an analogue of natural ibuprofen, inhibiting COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes.
- Oleacein (901 mg/kg) – the strongest known antioxidant found in olive oil, a derivative of hydroxytyrosol.
- Index D1 (Oleocanthal + Oleacein): 2941 mg/kg – a key indicator of bioactivity, more than 13 times higher than the global average.
- Total polyphenol content: 3,443 mg/kg – more than 10 times higher than the Health Claim threshold (250 mg/kg according to EU 432/2012).
- 20 g of olive oil provides 68.85 mg of phenols – more than 13 times the minimum required for EFSA health claim recognition.
Why it is unique
- The world's highest concentration of bioactive phenols determined by NMR.
- Tests confirm the complete absence of pesticide, herbicide and microplastic residues.
- Its annual production capacity (approx. 100 bottles) is individually certified by WOCH and the University of Athens.
- The olives come from wild trees in the Lykovouni region (Argielia, Laconia), harvested by hand in the first days of October.
- The oil is stored at a controlled temperature of 14–16°C and bottled under protective conditions using inert gas (argon).
NMR analysis parameters (September 2025 – 2025/2026 harvest)
- Oleocanthal: 2,040 mg/kg
- Oleacein: 901 mg/kg
- Index D1: 2,941 mg/kg
- Total polyphenol content: 3,443 mg/kg
- Tyrosol derivatives: 2,406 mg/kg
- Hydroxytyrosol derivatives: 1,037 mg/kg
Interpretation of results
According to the World Olive Centre for Health classification, oils with a phenol content above 1,000 mg/kg are awarded a gold rating (Χρυσή). Sparta Medicinal Green Label, with a result of 3,443 mg/kg and D1 = 2,941 mg/kg, is among the world leaders in terms of phenolic therapeutic potential. This product is classified as medicinal EVOO and is used in clinical trials on neuroprotection and inflammation (including the Nemechek and Bredesen protocols).
Recommended dosage
Due to its exceptionally high polyphenol content, micro-dosing is recommended: 1–5 ml per day (approx. ½–1 teaspoon) – preferably in the morning on an empty stomach or before bedtime. Such a small volume provides an amount of phenols comparable to 20–30 g of regular extra virgin olive oil. Longer use in small doses supports the body's natural anti-inflammatory, oxidative and neuroprotective mechanisms.
Storage and shipping
The oil is stored in a wine refrigerator at a controlled temperature of 14–16 °C. It is shipped in thermal packaging with a cooling insert. Samples of 10, 30, 50 and 100 ml are prepared at low temperatures – please add 1 gel insert.
Certificates and quality controls

- World Olive Centre for Health: certificate C2526-00032 (02.10.2025)
- TÜV Nord: organic producer certificate
- Food Allergens Lab: no pesticide or heavy metal residues
