- has strong anti-inflammatory properties,
- is one of the richest natural sources of antioxidants,
- supports the cardiovascular system,
- has neuroprotective potential.
It meets EU 432/2012 standards – providing 43.78 mg of hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol and their derivatives in a 20 g serving (more than 8 times the EU requirement).
Recommended intake
- Daily: 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml)
- As a supplement: usually 1 tablespoon per day
- Note: in the case of chronic diseases, it is advisable to consult a doctor about supplementation
Production and pressing process
- organic cultivation of Koroneiki and Myrtoelia varieties in Laconia (Peloponnese),
- early harvest ensuring the highest concentration of polyphenols,
- vacuum extraction and pressing at a temperature of up to 25°C,
- short malaxation to minimise oxidation,
- filtration and storage in stainless steel tanks with nitrogen,
- single estate production – full quality control "from grove to bottle".
Storage
To preserve the highest polyphenol content, the oil should be stored in a cool, dark place. The natural bitterness and pungency are the result of high levels of oleocanthal.
