Evergetikon — natural cosmetics from Crete, handmade with olive oil, herbs and beeswax

Evergetikon is a family-run manufactory of natural cosmetics from Crete. The name means beneficial in Greek — and that is exactly what every jar promises: skincare that comes from the land, not from a laboratory. The base of every formula is food-grade Cretan extra virgin olive oil, complemented by beeswax, aloe, Chios mastic, Cretan dittany, labdanum and essential oils from wild Mediterranean herbs.

Where Evergetikon comes from

The story begins in the shade of centuries-old olive trees, on hills scented with oregano, sage and thyme. Yiannis Skrafnakis grew up with his grandmother's remedies — a drop of olive oil and beeswax on a cut, a rosemary-and-honey inhalation for a cold. He later worked at the Heraklion hospital in medical technology and sterilisation; his wife Anna is a chemist. One spring evening they sat down at the kitchen table of the old family house, surrounded by jars of lavender, sage, beeswax and raw olive oil — and Evergetikon was born. Today the manufactory is located in the village of Skalani, a few kilometres from the Palace of Knossos.

Why olive oil instead of water

Most cosmetics are 60–80% water, which requires preservatives and emulsifiers. In Evergetikon formulas water is replaced by extra virgin olive oil, aloe juice or hydrosols. Olive oil is naturally rich in vitamin E, polyphenols, squalene and unsaturated fatty acids — compounds that support the skin's hydrolipid barrier and protect it from drying out. That is why these products are concentrated and economical: a small amount is enough for a full application.

• Face: moisturising and anti-wrinkle creams (wild rose, aloe, grape, helichrysum), face serums (collagen and sea buckthorn, labdanum, neroli, aloe), eye creams, face oils ("rose de mai", anti-spot, dittany), clay and zeolite masks, face scrub, cleansers and foaming cleanser, rose and rosemary hydrosols, sun cream with olive oil and carrot.
• Body and hands: body and hand creams (floral, vanilla, aloe, Essence of Crete, mastic), organic body lotions with collagen, hyaluronic acid and after-sun, dry body and hair serum sprays, salt scrubs, shower gels, massage and aromatherapy oils, anti-cellulite oil, herbal deodorants, foot creams.
• Olive oil soaps 120–140 g: hand-cut bars based on olive, coconut and almond oil — lavender, chamomile, lemon, orange, chocolate, honeysuckle, almond, jasmine with poppy seeds, mint, green and pink clay, zeolite, volcanic ash.
• Hair: shampoos (tonic anti-hair-loss, for dry hair, for oily hair, for curly hair, mint and lime), SOLID shampoo bars, conditioner with vitamin E, hair mask with coconut oil and monoi, hair oil with UV filter.
• 100% natural oils: almond, St John's wort, eucalyptus, laurel, rosemary, calendula, chamomile, labdanum, dittany, oil-pulling mouth oils with mastic and basil.
• For men: anti-ageing cream, after-shave balm, beard oils and beard milk, sage and tea tree face wash.
• For children and mothers: sulfate-free chamomile shampoo and oat-vanilla body wash, baby care oil, beeswax cream for babies and breastfeeding mothers.
• Traditional wax creams and specialty products: multi-purpose beeswax cream with olive oil, laurel cream, warming eucalyptus cream, aloe vera gel, herbal mosquito repellent.
• Fragrances and herbs: natural perfumes EVER Black / Red / Gold, plus Cretan herbs from the same manufactory — dittany, malotira (Sideritis syriaca), a blend of 15 herbs and the biofunctional Umami olive oil.

INCI list — read the label like a professional

For every Evergetikon product we publish the full INCI list (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) — the international list of ingredients in descending order of concentration. In Evergetikon cosmetics this list is short and easy to read, and instead of Aqua the first positions are taken by what actually cares for your skin:

What you will not find on Evergetikon labels: Paraffinum Liquidum, Petrolatum, Dimethicone and other silicones, Propylene Glycol, Methylparaben and other parabens, Phenoxyethanol, Triclosan, PEGs, artificial colourants (CI …) or synthetic fragrance compositions. Where Parfum appears, it refers to a blend of natural essential oils; for products containing essential oils the producer also lists, as required by EU law, the allergens naturally present in them (e.g. Linalool, Limonene, Geraniol, Citral) — these are constituents of the oils themselves, not additives.

How to choose an Evergetikon product for your skin

How to use for best results

Water-free cosmetics are richer than conventional ones — apply a small amount to slightly damp skin, ideally after a hydrosol or serum. Use face serums under your cream. Keep olive oil soaps on a dry soap dish and they will last much longer. Natural oils and beeswax can change consistency with temperature (firmer in winter, softer in summer) — this is normal and does not affect quality.

Frequently asked questions

Are Evergetikon cosmetics 100% natural?

Yes. The formulas consist of cold-pressed oils, beeswax, plant juices, hydrosols and essential oils. They contain no parabens, silicones, mineral oils, propylene glycol, phthalates, triclosan, synthetic colourants or synthetic fragrances.

Where does the scent come from?

Only from essential oils and resins — rose, jasmine, bergamot, mastic, Cretan herbs. The scent is subtle and fades naturally after application.

Are they suitable for allergy sufferers and children?

The producer has a separate children's line (sulfate-free, with chamomile and oats) and fragrance-free products (SOLID shampoo for sensitive scalp, after-sun lotion). As with any natural cosmetic, if you are allergic to specific plants, check the full INCI list provided with each product.

What is the shelf life?

The best-before date is printed on every package. We import directly from Crete in regular, small deliveries, so we always sell fresh batches.
