Description
Mountain oregano has a fairly spicy flavour and stands out from other varieties with its beautiful, strong aroma and medicinal properties. It is a staple spice in Mediterranean cuisine. It is used as a seasoning in almost all Greek dishes.
Origanum Vulgare is the best Greek variety. Oregano GReco contains only leaves and flowers, the twigs are separated by hand using traditional methods.
The name oregano comes from the Greek words oros (mountain) and ganos (joy, splendour), meaning "joy of the mountain".
It was first used by the ancient Greeks, who believed that the goddess Aphrodite created such a sweet and spicy scent as a symbol of happiness.
Oregano is an aromatic, honey-bearing plant and, above all, an excellent spice – essential in Greek cuisine!
The Hirtum variety – wild mountain oregano – grows naturally in Greece. It has a unique flavour and strong aroma because it contains a large amount of oregano oil, which contains carvacrol, known for its antiseptic properties.

Avoid consumption by pregnant women. When drinking oregano hirtum infusion, brew a small amount as it is very strong and may cause cramps.
