Greco rockrose (Cistus incannus) 25g ORGANIC
Description
In Greek, rockrose is called "ladania", which means "a plant containing oil". Rockrose produces a thick oil on the surface of its leaves, and it is this oil, known as ladanum, that rockrose is famous for. The time and method of harvesting rockrose is important. The variety with the highest oil content is also important.
In ancient times, it was dedicated to nymphs, whose beauty was compared to its flowers. Therefore, in addition to its medicinal properties, it was often used as a cosmetic by the Greeks and Egyptians, who imported ladanum from Crete and Cyprus. In the Middle Ages, ladanum was used to treat the plague.
Cistus occurs naturally in Greece. Plantations created in climates other than the Mediterranean do not guarantee that the plant will produce medicinal oil in sufficient quantity and quality.
The GReco package contains whole leaves and flowers of Greek cistus. The collection, drying, triple sorting and packaging are done in the traditional way – by hand.
We carefully sort the herbs, keeping only those parts that are suitable for consumption. We do not cut the plant by machine.
